Acupuncture

Laser Acupuncture

Laser Acupuncture may improve the chance of success in IVF.
Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most widely used medical procedures in the world. Using very thin needles or, more recently, laser technology, acupuncturists work to reduce pain and improve health by targeting certain points on the body. RMA recently completed one of the largest randomized clinical trials ever conducted to measure the effects of acupuncture on pregnancy rates in IVF. The results indicate that treatment with laser acupuncture could increase pregnancy rates in IVF procedures.

Is Laser Acupuncture Right for You?
Women who are candidates for IVF should consider incorporating laser acupuncture into their treatment. In addition to improving pregnancy rates, acupuncture can reduce stress and improve blood flow to the pelvic area and uterine lining. Some patients find that acupuncture has a positive impact on anovulation, regulation of menstrual cycles, endometriosis, and other health issues including back pain, headaches, and digestive problems.

At RMA, treatment with laser acupuncture costs $200 and can be conveniently scheduled before and after embryo transfer. Other acupuncture treatment options are also available to fit your schedule and needs. To learn more about acupuncture services available at RMA, ask your doctor, or contact RMA’s Complementary Alternative Medicine Department at (973) 656-2087.

Acupuncture and Fertility
Now widely accepted as an effective option in treating a range of health problems, acupuncture is the oldest continually practiced medicine in the world. There is growing evidence in medical research indicating that acupuncture may have a positive impact on fertility. It has been shown to help regulate menstrual cycles, reduce stress and anxiety, increase energy and improve blood flow to the pelvic area. Involving thin, disposable, sterile needles placed into strategic points on the body, acupuncture works to stimulate certain key “energy points” to help patients achieve greater spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical balance.
