Research Participants | Comprehensive Chromosome Screening

At RMANJ, we take research seriously. These efforts have resulted in numerous prestigious awards and improved outcomes for all of our patients  – whether they participated in research or not. Participating in one of our ongoing projects is strictly optional and your help is highly appreciated. The development of the first fully validated method of Comprehensive Chromosome Screening (CCS) would  not have been possible without the generous participation of our patients.

The goal of all of RMANJ's research is to ultimately improve every aspect of the care you receive, whether it's acupuncture after an embryo transfer or analysis of the transcriptome of cumulus oophorus cells. Though participation is optional, all patients will have the opportunity to benefit from new discoveries and innovations that are proven to be effective.

The easiest way to assist in research is to allow RMANJ's investigators to use material and fluids that would normally be discarded, such as follicular fluid and embryo culture media. We have compiled a database of more than 10,000 unique DNA samples and are actively investigating genetic causes of infertility, including diminished ovarian reserve and disorders of implantation.

Donating normally discarded material in no way affects your clinical care at RMANJ. Similarly, choosing not to participate is understood and respected, and in no way affects your care. Other research protocols involve altering routine clinical care, ranging from different stimulation protocols to changes in the way we culture your embryos. Rigorously testing these different techniques is the only way we can continue to improve and ensures that your treatment at RMANJ is always cutting edge. Ongoing projects include randomized trials on the impact of egg freezing (oocyte vitrification) and the impact of biopsying embryos for PGD or CCS.
