Is there a benefit to the Eeva System – Embryo Screening Method?

Video is a part of everyday modern life and no different with fertility treatments these days. EEVA and Embryoscope are two new embryo screening systems for time lapse imaging of embryos in the lab. RMANJ has participated in clinical trials for EEVA and published data at previous year’s American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) meeting. While this is an interesting area of research and the videos look cool, the jury is still out as to how helpful the technology may actually be for improving success rates on average.

At the end of the day these new platforms are still focused on how embryos look. And you still can’t judge a book by its cover in most cases. Sometimes beautiful looking embryo are chromosomally imbalanced and will likely lead to a failed cycle or miscarriage. At high performing programs like RMANJ, new technology like Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening or CCS (www.select-ccs.com) goes beyond how an embryo looks by safely and acutely determining the genetic balance. Transferring embryos that are balanced can lead to higher delivery rates for patients.
