IVI-RMA Launches Innovation Website, an Online Hub of Infertility Research across its Global Network
New site strives to inspire scientific collaboration and technological development with academia, government and the next generation of reproductive leaders to improve patient care
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., (July 9, 2018) – IVI-RMA Global, the world’s largest infertility care provider, today launched its Innovation website (www.ivi-rmainnovation.com), showcasing the ongoing research performed by physicians, scientists, and trainees across the network’s 88 centers in 13 countries.
The launch comes on the heels of the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), where 23 pieces of IVI-RMA research made their debut last week.
With its more than 300 ongoing research studies from 70 investigators, IVI-RMA’s Innovation website will serve as the first single-platform research portal in the field of reproductive medicine and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The modern, user-friendly website – complete with digestible video explainers of recent publications – links IVI-RMA’s global research community on one platform, fostering scientific collaboration within the network and outside it. The site is poised to create research partnerships with universities, government agencies and help budding scientists committed to advances in patient care.
“This project is a testament to the commitment of IVI-RMA Global in fostering progress in reproductive medicine,” said IVI-RMA Global Research Director Emre Seli, M.D. “This field has developed faster than many other medical fields, and we’re opening up our doors in an effort to spark a new wave of discovery around the world – with existing collaborators and new partners.”
In addition to making research findings publicly available before they have been published in a medical journal – better educating patients and the media – the portal will also serve as a tool for researchers at universities and organizations who are on the cusp of significant discovery but lack the clinical infrastructure to conduct rigorous studies. Website visitors will be able to contact researchers directly from the site, allowing direct communication and partnership.
“IVI-RMA Global recognizes that the pathway to improved outcomes for our patients is through rigorous scientific research,” said Dr. Richard Scott, IVI-RMA Global CEO. “We have committed the greatest resources available in our professional community to pursuing the critical scientific questions which will lead our way into the future.”
Researchers from IVI-RMA’s five basic science laboratories in Basking Ridge, New Jersey; Madrid, Spain; Valencia, Spain; Oxford, England; and soon to be Abu Dhabi, UAE, as well as numerous clinical research groups across 13 countries, will contribute research in real time, creating a living repository of the world’s most advanced translational research into human life.
In addition to ongoing research, the Innovation website will archive all awards, presentations and past publications stemming from the IVI-RMA network of investigators, all working to improve fertility outcomes for patients – from the traditional family, to same sex and transgender couples, to single individuals and those looking to preserve fertility for elective or medical reasons.
The website houses research with potential to make dramatic improvements in treatment, including cutting edge research on mosaicism, ovarian rejuvenation and gene editing. In total, the portal includes research on 15 areas of study: female fertility, male fertility, IVF, laboratory science, technological development, genetic embryo testing, cryobiology, endometrial synchrony, aging and rejuvenation, stem cells, epigenetics, reproductive disorders, immunology, psychology and surgery.
Since 1999, the leaders at RMANJ have helped bring more than 40,000 babies to loving families. In addition to serving as the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ (www.reifellowship.com) and the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship Program for Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, the practice currently has twenty-three physicians and ten locations in New Jersey: Basking Ridge, Eatontown, Englewood, Freehold, Hamilton, Morristown, Somerset, Springfield, West Orange, and its newest location in Marlton, New Jersey. With a 64% IVF (n=1140) success rate*, which is well above the national average, RMANJ attributes its remarkable delivery rates to its state-of-the-art laboratory, use of breakthrough technologies – such as comprehensive chromosome screening (SelectCCS), which determines chromosomal abnormalities in embryos, and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), a process that helps screen embryos for known genetic disorders – and its extensive forward-thinking approach to fertility research. *SART 2015 Final Live Birth Per Egg Retrieval Cycle (64% under 35 years; N=1140). This is your chance of achieving a live birth for each cycle started for an egg retrieval. This includes all transfers performed with fresh and frozen embryos derived from this cycle. Please note a comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because a patient’s medical characteristics, treatment approaches and entrance criteria for assisted reproductive technology (ART) may vary from clinic to clinic.
