Should I lose weight before trying to conceive?

NutritionUnfortunately, being overweight can negatively affect your fertility. Patients who are obese can have a harder time conceiving and may be at risk for increased pregnancy complications such as premature delivery, high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. The good news is that even modest weight reduction of 10 to 20 pounds may reduce these effects. We recommend that all patients who are concerned with their weight meet with a nutritionist and work out a diet and exercise regimen to help them meet their goals. It’s not just about getting pregnant; it’s about doing everything you can to have a healthy pregnancy.
